Spain's Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares rejected the idea proposed by Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz that Spain should accommodate displaced Palestinians from Gaza. Albares emphasized, Gaza's land belongs to Gazans and should be a part of the future Palestinian state, during an interview with Spanish radio station RNE.
In response, Katz was reportedly instructed to develop a plan allowing for the voluntary departure of Gaza Strip residents, as per Israeli media sources. This directive followed U.S. President Donald Trump's surprising declaration that the United States intends to assume control of Gaza, relocate its Palestinian inhabitants, and develop the region into the Riviera of the Middle East.
Additionally, Katz mentioned that Spain, Ireland, and Norway, all of which acknowledged a Palestinian state last year, are legally obliged to permit any Gaza resident entry into their territories.
