BERLIN, Jan 28 (Reuters) - NATO stated on Tuesday that acts of sabotage carried out across the military alliance in recent years have included threats to assassinate industry leaders, such as the CEO of German arms manufacturer Rheinmetall.
During a session at the European Parliament, NATO's Deputy Assistant Secretary-General for Innovation, Hybrid, and Cyber, James Appathurai, confirmed the threat against Rheinmetall's CEO Armin Papperger, previously only mentioned in media reports.
Appathurai highlighted that the sabotage incidents encompassed various actions, including derailing of trains, arson, attacks on politicians' properties, as well as threats to assassinate industry leaders like the head of Rheinmetall, among other plots.
